Welcome to my website!

There's a lot going on in here this year!

I am looking forward to teaching General Music to Kindergarten through Eighth Grades, plus Sixth and Eighth Grade Religion.

For grades four through eight, each subject will have a Google Classroom page, which will help students keep up with classroom activities both in school and at home. You will be able to access every Google Classroom from the dropdown menu at the top right of this page: either click on the class, or go to Links and you'll find it there. There are also links to fun at-home Music activities, articles on the importance of Music Education, and information about our Composer of the Month.

Below, you'll find some information about me. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions: mapadula@stmax.org.

Music has a power of forming the character, and should therefore be introduced into the education of the young. - Aristotle

The only thing better than singing is more singing. - Ella Fitzgerald

I have an AB in Music from Smith College, an MMus. in Vocal Performance from Boston University, and I studied for my MAT in Music Education at Lehman College. My family moved to Media from New York about six years ago, and now that our nest is (usually) empty, my husband and I just moved into Philadelphia.

I've been teaching music to students from Pre-K through 8th grade for about eight years, and I taught religion in our parish program for twelve years while my kids were in public elementary and middle school. In addition to teaching, I am a classical and liturgical singer, and I have directed choirs for both adults and children in New York and Pennsylvania. I was a member of the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Choir, and sang in the Papal Masses for the World Meeting of Families.

Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, I was a Cantor in the Catholic Church for 25 years, directed two Children’s Choirs, and sang in concerts, operas and church services throughout the greater New York area. I live with my amazing husband, two dogs (Wolfgang and Bennet) and, from time to time, our three grown children.
