Background Information
Our exploration on motorboats started with basic background information on the topic. We explored other group’s projects and researched motorboats.
Background Information
Why? Our project will analyze the effects of different components on boats in different circumstances. We are going to send a boat through different waves of challenges, including obstacles, and rough water conditions.
Hydrodynamics: A branch of physics that deals with the motion of fluids and the forces acting on solid bodies immersed in fluids and in motion relative to them compare hydrostatics.
Buoyancy: The ability or tendancy to float in water or air. The more surface area an object has, the more buoyant an object is. The more buoyant an object is, the more weight it can hold.
Drag: Friction between the bottom of the boat (the hull) and the water, which slows down the speed.
Thrust: The force that drives the boat through the water. Against the counteracting force.
Main Question: How can we use different motorboats to deal with certain circumstances?
