Coral degradation, an issue that is destroying coral reefs all around the world, is caused by a wide range of diseases such as white band disease and white syndrome. A coral reef is an underwater biome formed by colonies of coral polyps held together by calcium carbonate. The coral reef is helpful in many ways. It protects coastal areas from the force of waves and storms. They filter water and create oxygen. Coral degradation is a huge problem. It ruins the ecosystem of the ocean, marine animals lose their habitats, and the beauty of our ocean is compromised. Coral degradation is spreading up to 350 feet per day. Its rapid speed of destruction has many negative effects on our environment. This coral degradation must be stopped. That’s where the Sea Dome™ comes in. We want to eradicate the spread of the harmful diseases destroying the world’s coral reefs. We want to keep our oceans beautiful, healthy, and safe. That’s why we created the Sea Dome™. Phase one of the Sea Dome™ is to safely cover contaminated patches of coral or reef to stop the spread of disease. Phase 2 The Sea Dome™ features a special method to apply treatment to the affected area killing the disease without damaging the reef itself.
