BACKGROUND
Our Marine ecosystems are a fundamental part of life on earth. Without our ecosystems, human life wouldn’t exist and our planet would be barren. The basic building block of our world is taken for granted too many times, and as we continue using fossil fuels our home slowly deteriorates. Our ocean is our home, as it provides oxygen, food, medicine, and is a source of discovery, recreation, identity, and culture. Ecosystems not only provide enough food to keep over three billion people alive, but also produces oxygen for our world. Not only providing resources, it also helps develop civilizations and culture. All while protecting humans from threats, and regulating the climate. The ocean is admired for its beauty, but should be respected for its power.
