Please ensure your child is reading daily and identifies: Title, author, setting, characters including main character, main idea, conflict and resolution.

Mathletics: Tuesdays and Thursdays teacher will assign an activity. Students are highly recommended to log in often even when they have completed the assigned activities, this will provide extra practice for them in fun games.

Spelling:

  • Monday: "ABC Order".- Write your words in alphabetical order.
  • Tuesday: "Ready, Set, GO!".- Have an adult set a one minute timer and challenge yourself to write the word as many times as possible.
  • Wednesday: "Word Art".- Write the word and draw a picture of the word.
  • Thursday: " You choose!".- (write on notebook activity chosen and parent signature required for grade)

o Flashwriting: Get a flashlight/laser pointer, get in dark area so you can use it to write your words. (use the device to write your words in the air).

o Cheer your words: Pretend you are cheering and call out your words, you can even add movements to it ;)

  • Friday: "Spelling Test".- You've got this! ;) We know you have been working really hard and will be ready for your test.

Binder: Your child’s binder needs to be kept in his/her backpack at all times. Please check/sign your child’s binder daily.

All important documents, including paperwork that must be returned to school will be in the front inside pocket of your child’s binder. All homework, notes, lunch money, work that needs to be turned in, etc… should be in this pocket as well!

Take-Home Friday Folder: This folder is for graded assignments; assignments below 70 require a signature and must be returned to teacher every Monday. The Take-Home Folder needs to be returned, EMPTY, every Monday, with the exception of signed graded papers below 70. All contents must be reviewed by a parent every Friday.

**Your child must be responsible for his/her school supplies, binder, folders, homework, projects and school-work. Please ensure that he/she comes prepared to class each day. Please refrain from dropping off any work or supplies at the front desk, as it requires interruption to the class and we encourage independence/responsibility skills for our students. If a special circumstance shall arise, it will be at teacher’s discretion to consider for a grade.

Additional Information:

Volunteers:

There will be multiple opportunities to volunteer in our school this year. All volunteers must have completed the VIRTUS training. Volunteer opportunities include: select class celebrations, Car Raffle Project assistance, and help with a few other school-wide events throughout the year. I will send information and inquire about volunteers when opportunities become available. Thank you for being an important part of our classroom community!

* Birthday parties:

All birthdays will be celebrated on the last Friday of the month; from 2:30 PM to 2:50 PM; due to 20 minutes time restriction. Please sign in at the front desk before meeting us outside (if weather permits) for the birthday celebration so your child can celebrate with his/her class. You are not obligated to provide a treat, as we will celebrate your child regardless.

*Please advise via Remind, email, and or child’s agenda if someone other than parent is picking up your child. We will not release a child to another adult other than authorized pick up person, unless parent provides written notice.

*Please contact via email if you would like to set up a conference or discuss your child’s education. We kindly request for you to allow a 24hr period for the conference to be scheduled in order to better serve you and your child's needs, as well as, for you to describe the reason or reasons for the conference.

Gratefully,

Mrs. Espinoza and Mrs. Villa
