INTERVIEW WITH THE ARTIST
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO MAKE THIS PIECE?
AVA: I love cooking and making charcuterie boards for parties.
HOW DID YOUR ART TEACHER HELP YOU THROUGH THIS PROCESS?
AVA: She helped me figure out how to manage my time well and encouraged me.
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR CRAFT PROCESS?
AVA: I started by picking the different foods I wanted to make and the colors for each. I then made the pieces and let them dry. Then I glazed them and arranged them on the board. Finally I glazed it again and it was done.
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO MAKE SUCH A LARGE PIECE?
AVA: Our project was our favorite food and I thought that it would be fun to make all of the details but thought it would be hard to make it smaller.
HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO MANAGE YOUR TIME TO MAKE THIS PIECE?
AVA: I came during recess and also made a plan for what to do in what time.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART OF THIS PROJECT?
AVA: It was hard to make the honey spoon because of the shape of it.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF MAKING THIS PIECE?
AVA: I loved arranging the pieces like a puzzle after they were glazed.
