Come & See
A Catholic Primary Religious Education programme for Foundation and Key Stages 1 and 2
As a Catholic school, we place Christ at the centre of all we do. The gospel values underpin every aspect of school life. A minimum of 10% of the teaching timetable is dedicated to RE. Throughout the school week, children are involved in daily worship within the classroom and come together regularly for collective worship with the whole school community. We have our own Chaplaincy Team who lead the spiritual life of the school. At St Mary’s, we teach Come & See: a Catholic Primary Religious Education programme for Foundation and Key Stages 1 and 2. It follows on from successful trialling in schools in England and Wales and is based on the theological foundations of the Second Vatican Council, the Catholic Catechism and the revised RE Curriculum Directory and includes the Catholic age-related expectations. The Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses the search for meaning in life. God’s initiative in Revelation who comes to meet us and our response of faith. This pattern guides the structure of the programme and informs the process of each topic, opened up through; Explore, Reveal and Respond.Â
