The approach to mathematics in F2 uses the Dimensions of Depth to nurture and develop children into capable mathematicians. Children will be at a developmentally appropriate stage to be able to participate in a six-part lesson by the summer term.
The learning environments and continuous provisions are carefully planned by the Foundation team and are essential in nurturing the Dimensions of Depth within the youngest children in our school. Observations of children throughout their maths learning are digitally recorded by teachers and other adults on their Google Site. This alternative to the traditional floor book idea enables the F2 team to make more effective use of their time and create content that is easily shared with parents and families.
F2 children's explorations of mathematics are recorded on their class page of the website which makes their learning organised and accessible to parents and families.
The F2 curriculum map tracks mathematics objectives throughout the school year as children become fluent in number.
