Aspiring, nurturing, flourishing;

Aspiring, nurturing, flourishing;
together shining a light
"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son."
John 3:16
Last week, Gary led us in an extended Collective Worship to mark the start of Advent. Gary shared an inspiring message about the true meaning of the season: Advent isn't just the countdown to Christmas - it's a time for reflection, kindness and compassion.
As we journey through Advent, we are encouraged to think about how we share kindness in simple yet powerful ways. Whether it's offering a kind word, lending a helping hand or being present for someone in need, every small act of kindness shines a light in our community.
Building on this theme, Mrs Lee is guiding us through a special Advent journey each day. Each class is unwrapping a character to help build the Nativity scene, sparking meaningful discussions with poignant questions for us all to consider.
Please take a look at the first day of this journey below.

Year 2’s Exciting Adventure to the Golden Hinde!
Year 2 children had a fantastic trip to the Golden Hinde, stepping back in time to explore life aboard this iconic ship! The children were captivated by the rich history on display. The excitement didn’t stop there - many of them found the train ride just as thrilling as the ship itself! Their curiosity, enthusiasm, and excellent behaviour throughout the trip made us incredibly proud.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make this adventure possible!
🎄✨ Getting Festive with FoSMS✨🎄
The past couple of weeks have been full of sparkle and cheer, thanks to two brilliant events organized by FoSMS!
First up was the Wreath Night, a fabulous evening of creativity and festive fun. A huge thank you to Lucy for hosting and making the event such a success - we’re sure lots of homes are now looking extra merry!
Last weekend, St Mary’s was truly shining with festive cheer at our Christmas Fair! It was fantastic to see so many of you enjoying the stalls, getting creative with face painting, and, of course, visiting Santa in his magical grotto! A special thank you to our amazing KS1 singers, school choir, and the cast of Matilda for spreading Christmas joy with their wonderful performances. Your talent lit up the day! Thank you to everyone who came along, supported the event, and helped make it such a memorable day. Together, we’ve celebrated our school community and the joy of the season.
A massive thank you to our wonderful FoSMS for all their hard work, time, and effort in organizing such fabulous events. Your dedication makes all the difference, and we are so grateful for everything you do to support our school community! ❤️
Wreath Night
Christmas Fair
Last week the School Council and Eco Council had the pleasure of meeting the designers of the new playground for the Aquadrome via Zoom. Both councils were involved during the initial planning phase. We will be continuing to keep in touch and look forward to going down to have a look whilst it is being created.
Choir at Rickmansworth Winter Fair
Ou school choir was the first act to perform on stage at the Rickmansworth Winter Fair. What a wonderful performance!
A massive thank you to Mrs Wilson for all her work with the choir.
Oh Yes, We Are! Off to the Pantomime We Go!
We’re bursting with excitement for our trip to Watersmeet on Thursday to see 'Jack and the Beanstalk'! But that’s not all - this performance will be extra special because two of our very own stars, Issy and Anna, are part of the show!
Anna and Issy have been dazzling audiences with their performances, and now we get to see them in action - what a treat! A huge “Well done!” to both for their hard work and dedication to the performing arts.
We can’t wait to cheer you on, Issy and Anna!
A Heartfelt Thank You from St. Mary’s Africa!
We are so grateful to all of you who have supported the children at St Mary’s Africa, as well as the street children who benefit directly from the generous donations sent by St Mary’s Rickmansworth. These donations make a real difference in their lives, and we couldn’t do it without your kindness.
A special thank you goes to our very own Mrs McLeod, who spends countless hours sorting and preparing donations for transport. Her dedication to this cause is truly appreciated, and on behalf of the children, we are deeply indebted to her for all her hard work. We have received a donations list from our Coordinator, Jaffa which is below.
If you’re able to contribute, please bring your donations to the school office (if wet) or under the cross (if dry) over the next couple of weeks. Here’s the list of items needed:
🧥 All clothing – adults, children, and baby clothes
👡 Sandals, sliders, flip flops (no school shoes this time)
🛏️ Linen – sheets and duvet covers
📚 Books (no adult books, please – the children were so grateful but didn’t get enough to give each child one!)
🧸 Toys
✏️ Stationery
🧳 Suitcases, sports bags, backpacks, handbags (suitcases are used to transport clothing)
🍽️ Crockery and cutlery
🚲 Bicycles and scooters
Your generosity means the world to these children, and we thank you for your continued support. Together, we are making a real impact!
Celebrating Miles' Swimming Success
Recently, Miles took part in his first Open Swim Meet - and what an incredible start he's made! He competed in both the 50 m freestyle and 50 m breaststroke events, finishing an impressive third overall in his age group for both events!
We are so proud of Miles' dedication and achievement and can't wait to hear how he gets on in his next swimming gala in February.
