We've wrapped up the week with an exciting Sports Week, filled with fun, teamwork, and plenty of perseverance. The children showed incredible determination and effort throughout the week, whether they were participating in team games, individual challenges, or showing their best sportsmanship on Sports Day.
Sports Day was a true celebration of everyone’s hard work. Each child gave their all, with racing, jumping and cheering on their friends. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm. A special mention goes to all the parents who joined in and demonstrated great perseverance, even when faced with tough competition.
With the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics, we’ll be continuing the theme of perseverance and determination, as these events showcase athletes from around the world who inspire us all to push beyond our limits and achieve greatness. We hope the children will feel motivated by their stories!

School Election Day
On Wednesday, we held our own election for the Head Girl and Head Boy positions. Our Year 5 children participated in a thorough selection process. Every child who entered produced an excellent persuasive letter and was interviewed by Mrs Maxwell. It was a tough decision to determine who would move on to the next round, as all candidates had worked so hard in their preparations.
Henning, Louie, Sebastian, Lottie, Kezia, and Saskia were selected to advance to the final stage. For this, they had to prepare a speech and presentation slides to present to the entire school during assembly. Before the assembly, we discussed the general election and the concept of democracy. After the assembly, every child came into the hall, which was set up as our Polling Station, and voted.
This experience was made even more valuable by Three Rivers District setting up the polling station a day early, giving our children a similar experience to adults voting the next day in the General Election. We are incredibly proud of all our students for taking this process seriously and of our Head Girl and Head Boy candidates. After a tough count, we are pleased to announce that next year’s Head Girl is Kezia, and our Head Boy is Louie.

Fabulous Painting Party at School!
What a fabulous painting party we had at school! Parents painted their child's future classrooms, while the children enjoyed some fun activities together in the hall. A massive thank you to everyone who joined in the creative fun! The classrooms now have a refreshed and brighter feel, thanks to your efforts.
Mrs. Sharp has sent out an email detailing various jobs that need to be done before the start of the new academic year. Thank you to everyone who has already offered to help. If you are able to get involved, please email Mrs. Sharp. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Summer Library Challenge
Get ready for a summer of imagination and creativity at your local Hertfordshire Library! The Marvellous Makers Summer Reading Challenge is here to spark the joy of reading and creative arts, while addressing the dip in reading levels that can often occur during the summer holidays. In collaboration with The Reading Agency and Create, a leading arts charity, we’re celebrating creativity and storytelling for our young readers.
This year’s Challenge is an open invitation for children to explore books and stories, while taking part in free activities. From poetry and music to arts and crafts, there’s something for every young creator. The Challenge begins at all Hertfordshire Libraries from Saturday 6 July, and continues until Saturday 7 September. Children are encouraged to read six library books and collect exclusive stickers along the way. And that’s not all—finishers of the Challenge will receive a medal and certificate, and a chance to win tickets to an interactive poetry workshop with the celebrated poet, Joshua Seigal.
Keep an eye out for pop-up Maker Stations at select libraries during the summer holidays, offering simple, engaging, and free activities designed to unleash the creative spirit in every child. Curious to learn more? Visit www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/SummerReadingChallenge for all the details on the Challenge and discover some marvellous makes to create at home.
Attendance at school is the foundation to a child's future success and happiness. Over the coming weeks, we will be taking a letter from the alphabet, in turn, in order to highlight the importance of being at school and advice for parents and carers.
M is for Medical. This code is used to indicate that a student is absent due to a medical appointment or illness. Proper documentation may be required to verify the medical reason for the absence. We encourage you to organise any medical appointments after the afternoon registration, if possible, to minimise disruption to your child's learning.
We have such an amazing school and are looking at ways to promote ourselves in the wider community. To do this, we will be developing our use of social media. Please like our new Facebook page and any posts that you enjoy.
