Compassion
The festive joy was evident throughout the school as we continued to embrace the Christmas season with a variety of events. Key Stage Two brought the true meaning of the Christmas spirit to life with their poignant Carol service. The entire school enjoyed a magical outing to watch the enchanting pantomime, 'Sleeping Beauty,' filling the air with laughter and excitement. To top it off, on Friday, school was buzzing with our class Christmas parties. It truly was a week filled with joy and shared moments of happiness!
In Collective Worship this week we have explored the scene of the shepherds and the good news of great joy, given to them by their angelic visitors! We paused to wonder at this message - the Christmas good news which is for all - from the youngest to the oldest, the richest to the poorest, the highly educated to the least. The shepherds rejoiced at seeing Jesus and told everyone about their encounters such was their excitement! Across the school we have enjoyed unwrapping a character from this story each day, and now our crib scenes are complete.

Key Stage Two Carol Service
It was evident to everyone that a tremendous amount of time and effort went into preparing for the Key Stage Two Carol Service, and the dedication of our young performers truly shone through. Their hard work and commitment were reflected in the captivating and memorable moments they created during the service.
The entire school community came together to revel in the joy of the season, enjoying the delightful performances and creating lasting memories. The Carol Service not only showcased the incredible talents of our children but also fostered a strong sense of togetherness and festive cheer among students, teachers, and parents alike.
A huge thank you to each member of staff for the incredible effort and dedication put into organising and executing our Carol Service on Tuesday evening. Thank you to all of our parents and guests for your encouragement and enthusiasm. It is moments like these that remind us of the wonderful spirit and unity within our school community.
Sleeping Beauty Pantomime at Watersmeet
Hold on to your seats because we've got an enchanting tale to share! Last Wednesday, our entire school embarked on a magical journey to the pantomime, "Sleeping Beauty," and boy, oh boy, was it a show to remember!
🌟 Once Upon a Time…
As our entire school joyfully paraded down together, year groups supporting each other, the atmosphere was nothing short of a grand procession through the enchanting realm of fairytales.
👸 Curtain Up on Magic and Laughter
As the lights dimmed and the curtain rose, "Sleeping Beauty" unfolded before our eyes with a blend of laughter, music, and pure magic. The cast had us rolling with laughter, booing at the villain, and cheering for our beloved characters. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, and we loved every moment!
🤣 Oh Yes, They Did!
The interactive elements had our children on the edge of their seats, shouting "He's behind you!" like seasoned pantomime pros. The joy and laughter echoed through the theatre, creating an unforgettable experience for all.
👏 Applause for Our Stars
Hip, hip, hooray for Jack and Miss Devlin, our stars of the show, taking centre stage and tackling the Jaffa Cake challenge! Both embodied the spirit of fun and daring in classic pantomime style.
Congratulations to all of our children for their exemplary behaviour, infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering St Mary's spirit, which added a sprinkle of magic to our trip.
A huge thank you to all the teachers, staff, and parent volunteers who made this magical day possible.
So, until our next adventure, remember that the magic of "Sleeping Beauty" will live on in our hearts, keep the applause going
and the spirit shining bright! 🌟🎭👏
Christmas Class Parties
Our children had a blast at their class Christmas parties! Thank you to all the wonderful parents and contributors for providing delightful party snacks for each class. Your generosity and support made the celebrations extra special. The festivities were brimming with excitement as the children immersed themselves in a variety of activities, from Christmas card making to engaging in lively games of musical statues.
Year 5
As Christmas is approaching, the children in Year 5 have been getting into the festive spirit. The week commenced with singing and acting rehearsals in preparation for the amazing Christmas Carol service that took place on Tuesday. As well as this, the children continued with learning. In Science, they learnt about the oxidisation of materials. They conducted their own experiment and have also been observing the way an apple oxidises during a period of time (they took photographs of the apple throughout the week to observe its changes). Additionally, the children have been reviewing learning from this term's English and Maths through online quizzes using Kahoot. Finally, we danced the week goodbye during our Christmas parties!
This week in Year 5

Year 3 Ancient Egyptian Day - Take 2
In an unexpected twist of events, our Year 3 children enjoyed not one, but two Ancient Egyptian dress-up days this year. Due to unforeseen circumstances leading to a last-minute rescheduling by the company, our resilient Year 3's embraced the situation with enthusiasm and had a fabulous time immersing themselves in the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt. Their positive spirits and adaptability truly shone through, turning an unexpected turn of events into memorable and enjoyable experiences for all!
Key Stage Two Art Club
This term in Art club, we have been creating characters based on the work of Neusa Lopez. We covered balloons with papier mache and then added parts to create our ‘people’. We then painted them in bold colours with defining black lines. The results are fantastic!
St Mary's Church - Nine Lessons and Carols
Congratulations to our talented choir and our outstanding Head Boy and Head Girl, Jack and Lilly, for their stellar performances at St. Mary's Church Nine Lessons and Carols. Their beautiful voices and eloquent readings added a special touch to the evening. Well done on representing our school with such grace and skill! Thank you, Mrs. Wilson, for your dedication and skill in making our performance truly memorable!
Miss Devlin's Marathon Preparations
We are thrilled to share the exciting news that our very own Miss Devlin has made another impressive step forward in her preparations for the upcoming London Marathon! Over the weekend, she and her dad laced up their running shoes and conquered a half marathon at the beautiful Richmond Park.
Let's rally behind by Miss Devlin and offer our support as she embarks on this challenging and rewarding journey. If you would like to sponsor this amazing charity, please use the link below.
Information
Pick-up at the end of the day - Trial
Thank you all for your feedback about pick-up at the end of the day. At the Class Reps meeting earlier this half term, we discussed some options and would like to trial one of these for next half term. As with any trial, things won't work and other parts will take time to get right. We need to work together over this trial period.
To make the trial work below, there will be no parking down our road unless you have a pass. This is due to increasing the amount of people on the narrow pathway to school. There will be cones across the road from 3.00pm and not removed until all children have been released. Mrs Maxwell will ask cars to turn around in Juniper Gate and park down at Tesco's.
Reception - Collection as normal from the Reception classroom
Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 - Collection from the Key Stage One playground. There will be set places for each year group to wait for parents. This will increase the number of people (approximately 60) on this playground so we ask you to collect your child swiftly.
Years 4 & 5 - Please collect your child from the main pathway to the school office. Year 4 will be on the righthand side, Year 5 on the lefthand side. Please wait on the relevant side and the member of staff will release your child to you. Again, it is important that we clear this area as fast as possible.
Year 6 - As quite a few children walk home from school, we will continue to walk the children to the end of the road. Please meet your child in the usual way.
We will keep to the previous timings to try to reduce the whole school leaving together.
Afterschool Clubs
Thank you to everyone for completing the Google Form about afterschool clubs. We are very excited about providing some additional clubs next term. In future we will release the options for afterschool clubs at the end of the previous term so that there is plenty of time to book and organise family life etc. For this term, we will release these at the beginning of next term, therefore, structured clubs will not start for the first couple of weeks.
