Bri is Visiting Professor of biochemistry at St. Mary’s College of California (SMC). She graduated from SMC in 2016 with a B.S. in Biology. While there, she became actively involved in biochemistry research, studying enzyme kinetics in the lab of Dr. Jeffrey Sigman. She then obtained a PhD from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL)’s Graduate School of Biological Sciences in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, graduating in October 2021. There, in the lab of Dr. Leemor Joshua-Tor, she used a combination of biochemical, biophysical, and structural methods to gain a better understanding of how gene expression is regulated through the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway. She then (April 2022-July 2023) carried out postdoctoral research using biochemistry and chemical biology to explore translation in Danica Fujimori’s lab at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She finds biochemistry fascinating and has a great passion for sharing its wonders with whoever will listen. She maintains a biochemistry blog, "The Bumbling Biochemist," with associated content on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
In August 2025, she will join the faculty at Loyola Marymount University as an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry.
