Jonathan Lee Montoya, Ph.D.

Program Leadership | Instructional Design | Workforce and CTE Development.

I design and lead education programs that connect learning, workforce opportunity, and social mobility. As an assistant professor, program director, Stanford CIFE visiting scholar, former CTE department chair, and community-college instructor, I have worked across K–12, higher education, and industry to translate complex technical knowledge into accessible programs, curricula, and partnerships.

My work spans instructional design, engineering and construction education, bilingual educator preparation, workforce development, emerging technologies, and equitable student pathways. I am especially interested in building programs that respond to institutional and workforce needs while helping students recognize and realize their potential.

Selected Leadership and Impact

PROGRAM LEADERSHIP
Direct the Bilingual Authorization Program at Saint Mary’s College, coordinating curriculum, enrollment, advising, faculty collaboration, regulatory requirements, and continuous program improvement.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Co-founded Workforce VDC at Stanford’s Center for Integrated Facility Engineering, translating engineering, construction, BIM, and Virtual Design and Construction practices into applied workforce learning.

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN
Nearly ten years of experience designing technical, engineering, STEM, and teacher-education curricula for secondary, community-college, university, and professional learners.

CTE AND STUDENT PATHWAYS
Former Career Technical Education department chair and construction instructor with experience developing dual-enrollment, community-college, transfer, and industry-connected pathways.

RESEARCH AND INNOVATION
Award-winning scholar whose work examines equitable STEM and CTE pathways, multilingual learning, instructional innovation, and emerging technologies.
