About the Teacher

My name is Kate Chapple, and I am thrilled to begin my 6th year at SMM and my 27th teaching in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia! I graduated from Boston University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in English. Prior to SMM, I spent over 20 years at Holy Cross School in Springfield teaching grades 5–8 across several subjects, though ELA has always been my true favorite.

Sixth grade is a pivotal year as students navigate the transition into middle school. The foundations we build now shape their habits and attitudes toward learning for years to come. It is a genuine privilege to guide this age group, and I strive to create a classroom environment where every student feels valued, confident, and supported.

I live in Springfield with my husband, our two sons (ages 18 & 13), and our two cats. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, outdoor activities, cheering on the Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers, and escaping to the PA mountains or the beaches of Brigantine.
