About Teacher

Hi! My name is Kate Koegel.  I have been an educator for over 20 years and am thrilled to be teaching 3rd grade at St. Mary Magdalen School.  I graduated from Villanova University with a BA in Humanities and Elementary Education and received my Master's in Education and Reading Specialist Certification from Cabrini College.  

I have taught various grade levels in 3 different districts and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom.  After taking some time off to raise my family, I began teaching again as a substitute teacher at St. Mary Magdalen and eventually came on full-time.  I am excited to be here in 3rd grade for the second year!

I grew up in Havertown and Wayne, PA.  Currently, I live in Media with my family. I have been married to my husband, Jon for 11 years and we have 3 children. My daughter Emily, son Miles and daughter Lyla attend school here at St. Mary Magdalen.   

My family and I are lucky enough to spend our summers down the shore in Avalon.  I love going to the beach with a good book and spending time with family and friends.  I also enjoy cooking, musical theater and cheering on Philadelphia’s sports teams. 

My goals this year are to make each and every child feel a part of our 3rd grade community and to encourage them to do their best.  I look forward to helping your children grow both academically and spiritually.
