We had another busy week in PreK! We continued learning about Thanksgiving and families. We painted our hands and turned them into turkeys! We glued them on construction paper along with writing our names and a Thanksgiving poem to create a Thanksgiving placemat to use at our feast. We also created our turkey costumes!
This week, we focused on the letter 'C', the number 1, the color yellow, and squares. We are also continuing to practice spelling/writing our names. They are getting better and better everyday! We used Starfall to learn about the letter C and thought about words that begin with C. We practiced C through sensory items as well such as playdough and dotters. We also went on a C, yellow, and square hunt around the classroom. We are working on writing/recognizing our names. Please continue to work on this at home, it makes such a difference. Please also work on taking on and off coats (doing the flip, fixing sleeves, and the zipper).
Books: Turkey Trouble, Pete the Cat's First Thanksgiving, How to Catch a Turkey, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Turkey.
Religion: We are continuing to practice the Sign of the Cross and the Hail Mary. This week's lesson was about our families. We talked about who is in our families and what they do for us and what we can do for them. We each shared what we are thankful for in morning meeting. I heard lots of Mommies and Daddies!
We also did our Scholastic News of the month: "Things are Changing". We talked about the changes in weather and fall. They are so observant! We also had our first of two Safe Environment lessons. We talked about things we can do by ourselves (build blocks, brush teeth) and things we need to ask an adult for (baking, tying shoes). We talked about safe adults we can go to for help. They got to share a safe adult they can go to.

Happy Halloween! We had a great Halloween week talking about our favorite candies and costumes! They did amazing in their parade on Thursday!
We have been learning the letter A, the number 1, the color orange, and the shape oval. They are doing so well! We did lots of name and line tracing and we began standing in front of our peers and spelling our names during morning meeting! We also used play-dough to make the letter A and an oval. We are doing lots of activities to write and identify our letters and numbers. We used dotters to dot A, traced the letter A, and practiced writing the number 1. We are going to continue learning the alphabet with a new letter each week. We are also practicing each week how to write and spell our names!
Crafts: We mixed soap, water, and paint to make a witch's potion, we made ghosts by mixing water and paint and blowing through a straw, dipped cars in paint to make mummies, and ripped tissue paper to make candy corn. We also glued construction paper to make the Letter A! We finished the Halloween week off by painting pumpkins! We had a busy week!
Books: Chicka Chicka ABC, Alphabet Mystery, Alphabet Rescue, How to Catch a Witch, and The Night Before Hallowen.
Religion: We are continuing to learn the Sign of the Cross and the Hail Mary. We learned about All Saints Day and what makes someone a saint. We are attending Mass on November 7th. Please review Church expectations at home to reinforce what we talk about at school.
We are continuing to practice our writing and tracing skills. This comes with time and practice! We are making so much progress each week, I am so proud of them!
I am also starting to send home our class pet, Pups. He watches over us in the classroom to make sure we are making the right choices. On Friday, I will pick a student who was being a good friend and listener. Everyone will get a chance to take Pups home throughout the year. If you have him for the weekend, please return him clean on Monday and with all of his belongings!

Hello everyone! We have been learning and working so hard! Last week was fire prevention week. We talked about what firefighters do and how they keep us save. They also loved listening to songs and got to practice how we STOP, DROP and ROLL. We got an exciting visit from the Rose Tree Fire Department.
This week we learned about bats and spiders! We talked about where bats live and how they sleep all day and fly at night and how spiders spin their webs. We continued learning about ovals and the color orange. We also introduced the number zero. They are improving everyday in tracing, cutting, and coloring. This week we read fun stories and did lots of crafts. We are also beginning to practice tracing/writing our names! Please practice at home how they spell their names. Our stories this week included: Stellaluna, Superbat, The Very Busy Spider, Miss Spider's Tea Party, Six Creepy Sheep.
Crafts: Popsicle stick bats, name webs, we used beads to decorate a spider, and we made a web using cotton balls and put a spider on top!
Religion: We are doing so well learning the Hail Mary and Sign of the Cross.

I can't believe we're already in October! We had a fun week learning about fall and pumpkins! This week, we introduced our new shape and color: oval and orange. We learned how pumpkins grow and how they can come in all different shapes and sizes! We read lots of fun stories, including: The Biggest Pumpkin Ever, I Like Pumpkins, Biscuit Visits The Pumpkin Patch, and From Seed To Pumpkin. We also took a virtual tour of a pumpkin patch with Blippi! We are practicing our prewriting skills by tracing lines and words! We are getting better and better each day! This skill comes with time and practice. We also took advantage of the beautiful weather this week.
Our crafts this week included: dotting a pumpkin using a dot marker, painting paper plates orange and making jack-o-lanterns, and making handprints on a pumpkin!
Religion: I Pray Everyday. We have been practicing the Sign of the Cross and saying the Our Father! They are doing so well remembering our prayers! They love taking turns leading us in prayer before eating.
On Friday, we celebrated the feast of St. Francis. We talked about how he loved and cared for animals. We are so lucky to have Deacon Joe come bless our "Pets". They loved getting to help Deacon Joe bless their stuffies! They dipped their hands in the Holy Water and put it on their stuffies head to bless their pets! They loved it!

Another great week in PreK! We are adjusting so well to our routines and becoming so much more independent! This week, we learned all about apples! We taste-tested yummy red, green, and yellow apples and finished the week off by making applesauce! We also continued learning about the color red and circles. We went on a scavenger hunt looking for circles in the room and practiced tracing them with pencils! This skill will come with time and practice.
Our crafts this week included dotting apples using a dot marker, ripping and gluing construction paper to make an apple, and graphing our favorite apples! We also played an apple sorting game using our Smartboard. We took a virtual field trip with Blippi to an apple orchard as well!
Some books we read included: Applesauce Day, How Do Apples Grow?, The Biggest Apple Ever, and Ten Apples On Top.
Religion: Jesus Welcomes the Children. This week we talked about how Jesus welcomes every child. We are also continuing to practice the sign of the cross and our prayers.

We had an AMAZING first week in preschool! There are so many smiling faces walking in every morning! We are getting comfortable with our daily routines and making new friends. This week’s theme was ‘back to school’. We talked about our feelings about school and some of the things we do during our day! During circle time, we sing our "Good Morning Preschool Friends" song, calendar, weather, and our story of the day! We are focusing on the color red and circles next week so we had a little introduction. We focused this week on our routines such as unpacking, taking out snacks/lunches, prayers, and walking in the hallway. They are doing so great!! We also had our first full week of specials!! We got to enjoy the nice weather on the playground and the blacktop. I can't wait to see all their smiling faces on Monday! :)
We also did lots of activities/crafts. We painted a school bus with cars, made handprints, colored/glued to make a crayon, and made a self portrait!
Some of the books we read included: Our Class is a Family, Time for School, Mouse, Puppy Preschool, The Pigeon Has to Go to School, The Day the Crayons Quit, and The Kissing Hand. We also listened to a read-aloud of Pete the Cat's Rocking School Shoes.
Religion: My Teacher Welcomes Me. We are learning our prayers for the morning and before we eat!
