Auxiliary & Title I Reading Services
In Ohio, non-public schools receive funds from both the state and federal governments. Auxiliary funds are provided by the state government. Title 1 funds are provided by the federal government. These funds support our remedial reading programs.

1) How does my child qualify for services?
Qualification is based on multiple criteria, including assessment scores, classroom performance, and teacher referral.
2) How will I know if my child has been recommended for services?
A permission slip will be sent home. You can choose to accept or decline services for your child.
3) If my child received services last year, will they automatically receive them this year?
No, children need to requalify each school year.
4) Where will my child receive services?
Your child will be in a small group with up to 5 total children. Reading groups meet in Mrs. Ursic's Reading Room.
5) What will my child miss when they are in Reading Group?
Mrs. Ursic and the classroom teachers strategically schedule Reading Group at a time that is least disruptive for your child. Your child will not be penalized for work that they miss in the classroom. Your child will not miss recess or specials.
6) What type of instruction do they receive in Reading Group?
Mrs. Ursic supplements classroom instruction. She uses Orton-Gillingham, which is an explicit, systematic, and multi-sensory approach to teaching reading.
7) How will I know my child is progressing?
Your child's progress will be communicated in a variety of ways, including emails, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences. Students can phase out of the program if adequate progress is shown.
8) How can I discontinue services?
A parent can request for their child to discontinue services by contacting Mrs. Ursic at any time.
9) How can I help my child at home?
