I am Julie Perez and I am proud to say that this will be my 26th year teaching at SMV.  I graduated from Marquette University in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  I taught at St. Rose Catholic Urban Academy for 4 years before my time here at SMV. I began teaching here as Miss Hesselbein when I was 25 years old.  I  married my husband, Steve, in 2006.  Our wedding was here at St. Mary's Visitation Church with the amazing voices of the SMV Children's Choir.  We have 2 daughters and they both attended SMV for Grades K3-8.  Josephine graduated in 2023 and is a junior at Catholic Memorial High School.  Jessica graduated in 2025 and is a freshman at DSHA.  I have experienced both sides of SMV as a parent and as a teacher and I wouldn't change a thing!

My name is Betsy Navarrette. This will be my twelfth year teaching. I graduated from St. Norbert College with a degree in Elementary Education. I taught at SMV for 8 years after graduating. When my son was born, I stayed home for 5 years. I returned to teaching in 2021 when my youngest was two years old. My husband Dan and I have 3 children who attend St. Mary's. Evelyn is in 5th grade, George is in 4th grade, and Eleanor (Nora) is in 1st grade. Outside of school, I love to read, watch my children's sporting events, and hang out with friends and family.
