Welcome!

Public Speaking is an enrichment class that meets once a week.  The class will follow the Introduction to Public Speaking curriculum created by the National Speech and Debate Association.

8th graders will participate in the Public Speaking enrichment class in order to more fully develop their abilities to be a good speaker and a good listener.  

We will evaluate famous speeches for elements that make them effective, and practice these same elements in mini-speeches that we will deliver to the class.  We will also address issues of communication apprehension (aka "stage fright") and practice techniques to overcome this issue.
