Parent Testimonial:

"A huge thank you for your forward thinking," said a parent. "I feel like my middle schoolers haven’t missed a beat. Although the social aspect of school is certainly missed, I feel my children are still getting an amazing education. St. Mary's technology was on point and the transition was seamless. A huge thank you to the teachers and administration. As usual, simply amazing."

Strong Teaching and Learning Continues with St. Mary's Distance Learning Plan

Despite being in distance learning mode since the middle of March, St. Mary's Elementary School has continued its mission of educating the whole person: spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, aesthetically, psychologically, socially, and physically in preparation for a positive, productive future.

On March 17th, St. Mary's Elementary School launched its distance learning plan using the G Suite platform. Since this technology was already fully integrated into our curriculum at all grade levels, it was a seamless transition for teachers and students to move into remote synchronous and asynchronous learning. Thanks to our dedicated faculty, St. Mary's students continue to receive the same high-quality, rigorous education that they have become accustomed to through distance learning.

To help students adjust to a new way of working from home, St. Mary's created new class schedules for Nursery through 8th grade. The new schedules include daily assignments through Google Classroom and scheduled live classes through Google Meet. This rigorous schedule includes all of the core subjects and special subjects including art, music, physical education, Spanish, and technology. In addition, each morning students in Kindergarten through 5th grade receive a document which outlines the day's schedule including assignments and access codes to Google Meet sessions. This daily document helps our younger students plan their day successfully.

Each morning, Principal Sarah Griffin sends a morning message to the entire school community that includes a prayer, birthday announcements, school updates, and other uplifting content - sometimes a link to her school vlog, Tea Time. Mrs. Griffin has said, "Despite not physically being with the students each day, I know I speak for all of the faculty when I say that we continue to be inspired by their creativity, intellect, and compassion."

St. Mary's Elementary School is accepting applications for the upcoming school year. If you are interested in a tour or have further questions, please contact our Admissions Director, Mrs. Norma Stafford at nstafford@saintmaryhs.org.
