How I made my sheet for the project of the M&M counting of a the 1.69 ounce bag:
- Setting up a sheet of paper.
- Predicting how many M&M's of each color I will get.
- Opening the M&M's bag and count how much of each color I actually got.
- After that, I created the Google Spreadsheet and went to section A1 and typed "Jesse's Candy Counting" and merged A1-H1 together.
- Then, I went to B2-G2 and marked them as different colors, then marked A2 as "Student Name".
- Entered my name at A3 and the count of each color at B3-G3.
- I labeled H2 "Total", then I entered =SUM(B3:G3) so it would add the numbers on B3-G3.
- Finally, every student put their names below row 2 and then they typed what number of each color they got.
How I made my charts:
- I selected B3-G3, and then clicked the "chart editor" button to create a chart.
- I went to the title and named it "Jesse's M&Ms" and the other one "Class Average M&M".
- I then went to the columns and set up the proper colors and put the value of each column
- Finally, I removed the legend.
From how different my estimate was with the actual amount I got was so random. Red was the highest on my estimate a lot, but in the actual count was 8 which was the second smallest amount of the colors I got. I do not really know where they are packaged as it has an unusual color distribution.
The hardest thing on the assignment was the pie charts. How I overcame it was by having some help about how some things work. I think that the 1.69 M&M bags would have blue with about 11-13, red may have 5-9, orange could have 10-12, green gets about 9-10, brown might have 4-6, and yellow could have 11-13. I think the assignment was OK because it was quite fun learning about Google Sheets. My favorite flavor is the classic old M&Ms.
