Technology plays an important role in the curriculum at St. Martha Catholic School. Our technology program is based on the International Society for Technology in Education's National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS•S), the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston education outcomes. Grade level benchmarks outline which skills each student needs to master in technology.
A school-wide network provides students and staff with filtered access to the internet. In Kindergarten through Eighth grade, students visit the computer lab weekly and are encouraged to utilize classroom computers. Middle School students apply their knowledge of computer skills across the curriculum.
Our curriculum is centered on learning basic computer concepts, using productivity tools to create products, keyboarding, and using the Internet for research and communication. Technology projects are integrated into curricular subjects such as Religion, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies and others. The students are graded based on projects, classwork, and participation.
