Check back here for more updates as we approach the start of St. Mark's Strong Start!
What should I bring?
Please refer to our recommended Packing List. Keep in mind that everything you bring to campus must return with you at the end of program. You will not be permitted to leave personal items (athletic equipment, bedding, furniture, clothing, etc.) on campus.
What are the dates of the program?
St. Mark's Strong Start will run from July 9 -12.
Is Strong Start a mandatory program?
Strong Start is an optional program, though strongly recommended. The program seeks to provide newly enrolling students with the opportunity to acquaint themselves with St. Mark's School, other new and returning students, faculty, and St. Mark's specific programming in a setting that isn't overwhelming.
Can day students attend?
Definitely! All newly enrolling students are welcome to attend. Staying on campus overnight is a primary component of St. Mark's Strong Start, so day students would be expected to remain on campus for the duration of the program.
How much does Strong Start cost?
Strong Start is FREE for all who attend! All meals, snacks, activities, and aspects of the experience will be covered entirely by St. Mark's School. Families are, however, expected to provide their own transportation to and from St. Mark's. Limited shuttles will be offered to and from Logan Airport in the event that students are flying in for the program.
What will students be doing during Strong Start?
From Wednesday, July 9, to Saturday, July 12, students will reside in the new Patterson-Sculley residence hall and enjoy our beautiful 210-acre campus. While here in Southborough, Mass., they will engage with St. Mark’s faculty and current student ambassadors, socialize with new classmates by the pool, get a taste for the dining hall, participate in classes and community-building activities, and make connections ahead of their arrival this fall.
Any programming for parents/guardians?
Parents and guardians are invited to attend the brief, casual reception that will be hosted at drop-off for Strong Start as well as the closing reception for families on Saturday, July 12. The purpose of Strong Start is not only to help ease the transition to St. Mark's for new students, but to provide moments and opportunities for new student families to build a sense of cohort amongst themselves as well.
What about newly enrolling students who are unable to make it to Strong Start?
Because Strong Start takes place in the middle of July, we understand that many families may already have summer plans in place. With that understanding, many of the information sessions and panels will be live-streamed, recorded, and shared digitally with those interested but unable to attend.
