Bounce Programme

The Bounce Programme is a co-curricular component aimed at the holistic development of our students while enhancing the quality of school experience and encouraging the joy of learning. The Bounce Programme focuses on experiential learning via enrichment modules and service learning opportunities.

The ‘9 + 1’ component within the Bounce Programme for our Secondary 1 Normal (Technical) course students prepares them for a smoother transition into secondary school life. In this programme, students have opportunities to pick up various skills through the hands-on activities that encompass explicit learning of values and social-emotional competencies to meet their holistic developmental needs.

This year, students embarked on an inter-disciplinary project anchored by 4 subjects – English Language, Science, Art and Physical Education - for their outdoor cooking experience. During each subject lesson, students were taught knowledge and skills that helped them appreciate the various aspects of outdoor cooking. Students then drew connections from lessons to perform authentic learning tasks.

As part of the whole-school Education Career Guidance (ECG) effort to help students explore and plan post-secondary educational pathways and career options, the Bounce Programme provides opportunities for Normal course students to attend workshops and tours conducted by various post-secondary education institutes.

Our Secondary 2 Normal (Technical) course and Secondary 3 Normal (Academic) course students attend the Experience ITE Programme (EIP) annually. This year, even though  our students were not able to visit the ITE College physically, a virtual tour around the campus and talks by the ITE organisers gave a good overview of the facilities and courses offered in the ITE Colleges

Elective Modules (EMs) are also planned for our Normal course students to broaden their learning experiences beyond the curriculum and cater to their needs through applied learning. A teacher-mentor scheme provides additional support to our Secondary 4 Normal (Technical) course students during their preparation for their ITE Early Admission Exercise (EAE).

Another component within the Bounce Programme is the Gear-Up Programme which offers our students the opportunity to strengthen school-connectedness and build positive peer relationships after school curriculum hours. During the Gear-Up Programme sessions, students take part in a variety of sessions that engage students with different needs and interests. This year, the students participated in the 'Footwork for Community – Hip Hop Dance Project' (organised by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay), sport modules (in collaboration with DoTS (Sports)), a first aid course (conducted by Red Cross Youth cadets), the Edible Garden Project and baking activities where students baked cookies to show their appreciation for teachers during Teachers’ Day.
