Thank you to all our Country's Veterans, living and deceased, for your service!
God of power and mercy,
you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,
that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters.
Keep in your mercy those men and women
who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely
into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
R/. Amen
Fr. Pepper, the staff and the SFR/SL Worship Committee would also like to thank Deacon Ralph Bartley, the liturgical ministers, musicians, sound crew, set up/take down volunteers, Immaculata high school students, the SL Boy Scout Troop, luncheon volunteers and all those who supported in some capacity this HUGE joint parish liturgical event. Everyone's hard work and preparation made this year's Pentecost Mass an enormous success! The weather was absolutely wonderful! The food for the potluck was plentiful and so delicious. There were over one hundred and forty (140) people in attendance at mass and the Holy Spirit was truly present among us. Fr. Pepper encouraged everyone to take the Holy Spirit out into our communities and transform the earth with our lives. As disciples of Christ we are called to know our communities' needs and serve them accordingly as we embrace the changes in our lives with faith, hope and love for one another.

St. Frances of Rome parishioner, John Joseph Masick, a beloved husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, surrounded by his family at the age of 81.
John was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 22, 1942, to Joseph A. Masick and Helen A. Masick. He is survived by his loving wife and St. Frances of Rome parishioner, Mary W. Masick of 9 years. He leaves behind his devoted children Michael (Claire) Masick, Adam (Brooke) Masick and Meaghan Eskildsen; his sisters Barbara (Herb) Sturz and Lynn (Duncan) Murley; and his dearest grandchildren Wilson, Lachlan, Sylvia, Liam, Andrew, Kaylee and Lindsey; Mary’s sisters and brothers Carol (deceased), Nancy (Kent), Charlie, Rick (Karen) and their families; and cherished nieces and nephews Jan (Don) McElmeel, Carrie (Tom) Lenkart, Bryan (Kristin) Rumrill and Craig (Jamie) Rumrill and their adored families.
John bravely and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969 as a Team Leader of an Airborne Ranger Company, 75th Ranger Regiment, conducting combat operations at the height of the war. Following his service, John graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1971 from the J. B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville. After several years working for Carrier Vibrating Equipment - including a stint living in and leading projects across Russia - John’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to found Air Dynamics, Inc. which he successfully built and led until his retirement in 2007. John was also a long-time member of Hurstbourne Country Club, Kentucky Cobra Club and Louisville Dinner Dance Club.
John’s greatest passions were his wife Mary, family, friends - his Shelby Cobra - and making people smile. He was a kind man of profound character, warmth and a sense of humor that would brighten everyone’s day around him and instantly turn a stranger to a friend. While our hearts are heavy, his legacy will endure through his “John’isms” and the memories he helped create with his loved ones and all those he touched.
His Funeral Mass will be 10am Saturday May 25, 2024, at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, 2119 Payne Street, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday May 24, 2024, from 3-7 pm, at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, St. Matthews.
Memorial contribution in memory of John Masick may be made to St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, or to a charity of your choice.

In this week's liturgy we celebrate the Most Holy Trinity. In our readings we hear that God is Father, Son, and Spirit—three persons in one God— this relationship among the three persons is unique. When God created the world, God created humans in God’s own image. This means that we are also relational beings, with a unique relationship to each other, as well as a unique relationship with God. We imitate God when we treat others with love and mercy, for God treats us with love and mercy.
We are bound to God with love, as we are with our own parents, or children, or spouse. These bonds of love suggest the bonds between Father, Son, and Spirit. When we were baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we were bound with all three persons in God. Called to live out that bond, we express it with the love that in turn binds us with others. Bonded with those we love and with those who love us, we form an ever-widening family, rooted in the bonds of the Trinity.
Who is someone I am strongly bonded with?
How is our bond suggestive of those of the Trinity?
Who is someone I’m barely bonded with?
How can I strengthen and nurture that bond?

On Thursday 9 May, at 5.30 pm, on the solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, Pope Francis officially proclaimed the ordinary Jubilee of 2025 with the public reading and delivery of the Bull of Indiction in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
The Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen
