During the Easter Vigil Mass last Saturday night, St. Leonard welcomed Ida Kelly Karem into the faith. Joined by her friends and family, Ida was baptized, confirmed, and received her First Eucharist. Her sponsor/ Godparent was Fran Mastropaolo.
Starting with the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper, Ida fully participated in all of the Triduum services. And she came back Sunday morning to St. Leonard's Easter Mass to join her new faith family in prayer!
Our next adult faith formation program will feature a 6-week Bible study of women in the New Testament. This program from the well known Little Rock Scripture Study series will explore how women were essential to the ministry of Jesus and the flourishing of the early church.
This study delves into the lives of the fascinating women who befriended Jesus, were healed and transformed by him, followed him as disciples, and proclaimed the good news of his resurrection. Journey through the New Testament, exploring the social and religious world of first-century Palestine and the remarkable lives of these women of faith. Six lessons survey New Testament texts about Mary the mother of Jesus, women healed by Jesus, the Samaritan woman, Mary and Martha of Bethany, Mary Magdalene, and various women of the early church, such as Priscilla and Phoebe.

You may have participated in health or exercise challenges before and know that the point of committing to these challenges is to change our habits. For example, in a health challenge, we make goals to exercise each day, get enough sleep, eat healthy food; the hope is that when the challenge is over, these things will become the new normal. That's what we want the ARC to do -- raise awareness, invoke commitment, and make being an anti-racist the new normal in our everyday lives.
This is how it works...
To participate, complete three anti-racism activities per week during a 4-week period. The ARC begins Friday, April 5, and then you will receive a weekly email each Friday through April with a list of 10-12 suggested anti-racism activities for you to choose from. These range from reading an article, calling an elected official, making a donation, watching a film by Black artists, patronizing a Black business, attending a rally, etc.
