The St. Laurence counseling staff provides a variety of resources for current students to ease the stress of the college application and acceptance process. We encourage parents, guardians, and family members to support their students through the process to ensure students are receiving the best college admission results and financial aid packages.
Stay On Track: St. Laurence offers college timelines for students in Freshmen and Sophomore year as well as Junior and Senior year. Keep track with the appropriate timeline to ensure your student is meeting all necessary deadlines and goals.
Rep Visits at St. Laurence: Encourage your junior or senior to participate in St. Laurence hosted college representative presentations. Over 60 visits are hosted each year between the fall and spring semesters. In addition to individual rep visits, St. Laurence hosts an annual fall college fair.
Scholarships: Scholarships have a variety of qualifications and requirements. Keep track of deadlines and recommend scholarships to your student throughout the year.
Visit College Campuses: College tours take place all year long. Juniors and seniors are allowed three excused absences for college visits. Check college websites for details regarding daily tours and open houses. Take time to visit a college campus with your student.
See the whole financial picture: Many colleges will offer students a merit-based award with their acceptance letters. To see the full financial package, students will need to complete and submit FAFSA. Once FAFSA is processed, each school will send the student an offer with the most accurate out-of-pocket cost to attend. Each school is different, so be sure to submit the FAFSA to each school that accepted your student (and the schools you might be waiting on). The FAFSA is open for the 2025-2026 year at the current time.
