During Daily 5 the children will participate in stations in the following five areas:
*Guided Reading: Students will be placed into reading groups based on their levels. I will use leveled readers for their guided reading time. In the beginning of the year we are working on many skills and strategies including finger pointing, picture clues, and look at the beginning sound. We are currently also working on finding the first/last word on the page, counting the words in a sentence, and finding letters/sight words we know.
*Word work: Activities revolving around our word wall words will be incorporated here.
*Writing: Practice writing letters, words and sentences. Eventually, as the year progresses, they will write stories.
*Read to Self: Children practice reading their books in their book boxes. Their boxes contain books that they made or have previously read.
*iPads/game: Students will have the opportunity to use an iPad for a reading game/activity. At times, students may also use the iPad to listen to a story.Â
