Preschool

Themes and Lessons:

• Marvelous Me! What makes me special? 

• We are learning our classroom routines, exploring our new environment, and making new friends. The first few days are all about helping the children feel comfortable, safe, and excited to come to school.

This week we read:

• My Classroom is a family

• The Lion and the Mouse

• Strictly No Elephants

• I just like me

Religion: God Made My Helpers

• Practice daily classroom prayers: Morning Prayer, Mealtime Prayer, Rest Time Prayer, and End-of-the-Day Prayer

• Learn the importance of prayer and talking to God

• End each day by reading a Bible story

• Learn about God’s love and the Good News shared in the Bible

• Encourage children to show kindness, love, forgiveness, and gratitude each day

Writing:  Our Names are special! 

• We introduced ourselves,  recognized our names and began to practice writing our names

Language and Literacy:

• Rhyming words

• Vowels

• Beginning Sounds

• Middle Sounds

• Ending Sounds

• Blending and segmenting words

• Clapping and counting out syllables in words we hear

Math: 

• Counting to 30

• Identifying numbers 1-10

Science: APPLES

We are learning all about apples. The life cycle of an apple, we tasted apples, and made applesauce. We enjoyed making some fun apple crafts using our fine motor skills cutting and gluing.  

Social Studies:  

Pledge of Allegiance

• Learn the words to the Pledge of Allegiance.

• Stand tall and face the American flag.

• Place your right hand over your heart.

• The Pledge is a promise to our country.

• It shows love and respect for our country and flag.

• It reminds us that we are one nation and one community.

• Practice saying the Pledge together each morning.

Small Groups:

Each week the children will have different learning centers that they will work at in groups of 3 to 4 students. The learning centers focus on building what we are learning in preschool (fine motor, names, letters, shapes, numbers, working together, problem solving).
