The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Leadership and Professional Excellence Badge program is A unique program designed to provide OTA students with the skills and knowledge they need to become effective leaders in healthcare settings. The program emphasizes the importance of self reflection, mentorship, communication, and other professional skill development as needed to strengthen leadership skills that can be applied in a client-centered setting.

To earn this badge, students completed a Leadership Practice Inventory, read Dare to Lead by Brene Brown, and established a mentor in the healthcare field. Throughout the program, students were required to maintain a program-established GPA, demonstrate active involvement in professional development, and self-assess current and desired leadership qualities.
Students participated in formal and informal mentorship with program advisors and reviewed the importance of emotional intelligence as it relates to leadership in healthcare.
This robust program is offered as an elective for students in the OTA Online Program at St. Catherine University.
