About  PANOS: ‘New Stages, New Words’ is an annual project that commissions original plays from renowned authors, to be performed by adolescents. The scripts are developed and finalised after workshops with representative participants from the schools and youth theatre groups enrolled in the festival. In this 15th edition of the project (the fourth to take place at the Dona Maria II, National Theatre) PANOS will present 3 original plays: O Ensaio, de André Tecedeiro,  Irene, de Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida, and Duas pessoas & uma ilha Sozinha, de Ondjaki.

This year there are 52 groups taking part from around Portugal. Mrs Weiner and Profª Catarina Machado took part in 2 days of workshops with the writer of the piece we have selected, Ondjaki.

Representatives from the theatre will watch all groups perform. 6 groups, 2 for each play, will be invited to perform again in Ílhavo and open to the general public for 2 days in May. Whilst we hope that our performance is selected, we are also excited about being able to take all the cast to watch the same play as theirs, being performed in completely different ways. We feel this will be a great theatre experience all round for our students.

Sobre a peça: “Duas pessoas sobrevivem numa ilha há muitos anos. Outras quatro pessoas num bote, no meio do mar, avistam ao longe a ilha. Várias revelações estão por acontecer. Ou não. Mas nem a solidão nem o amor são fáceis de conter ou de expor.” Vamos juntos numa viagem às memórias e aos sonhos, onde passado, presente e futuro se interligam numa conversa que tem tanto de onírico como de misterioso.

Este projeto integra a Odisseia Nacional e é apresentado no âmbito do PANOS - palcos novos palavras novas. Uma iniciativa do Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, do BPI e da Fundação "la Caixa".
