Hello St. Juliana Families,
I am looking forward to a great school year! I started my teaching career many years ago, and I am excited to be the Learning Support Coordinator. I grew up in La Mirada and attended St. Joseph High School. I earned my degree from UC Santa Barbara and my multiple-subject teaching credential from Cal State Los Angeles. I taught at St. Paul of the Cross in La Mirada, where I also attended. I taught first grade at St. Juliana for 10 years. I loved teaching little ones how to read. I returned to school to learn how to better serve our students' needs. I completed my MS in Reading and Literacy Education. I am also a reading and literacy leadership specialist.
My husband, Matt, and I have four children. Our oldest, Alex, graduated from USC and is starting her career and traveling. We started St. Juliana when she was in the first grade (Enjoy these years. They do fly by). Matthew just started grad school at San Diego State, and is working on his MBA in sports business. Luke recently turned 19, and started Santa Ana College. He is on the baseball team, and enjoying this transition. Hailey is 15 and is a sophomore at Rosary. She's on the flag football team, and is a student ambassador. They keep us busy. I loved our family time over the summer. This included two graduations and traveling to Mexico. We look forward to what the future holds for them. When I have free time, I enjoy my peloton, going on walks, reading a good book, cooking a yummy meal, & spending time with my family & our sweet dog, Biggie!!
The theme for this year is "Be who God made you to be," by St. Catherine of Sienna. We are an amazing community, and I feel so blessed to be a part of it. Let's share our faith in all we do.
Fight on!!
Blessings,
Mrs. Galvan
