Changing One Life    10/2/24

Has Mark Brown ever come to your school? Well he has come to mine and he definitely

changed many opinions on bullying.

He started by telling us about his family and what all his kids do. He didn’t talk about this for long and he soon started talking about his experiences with bullying when he was younger. He grew up in Jamaica and when he was in middle school he was always picked on by a group of girls. This was very sad to hear because I know that there are so many kids that experience this. Bullying can also have an effect on the person where they naturally become a meaner person because of the environment they are in. Mark Brown is truly an inspiration because he is still a great person who got through getting bullied.

My favorite thing that he talked about was how bullying is like the movie Beauty and the Beast. He told us that Gaston was the bully and the beast was the one getting bullied. The beast was a good person and treated Belle with care but Gaston saw him as a mean, ugly beast and turned everyone against the beast. It really helped understand what some people are feeling when this happens to them. 

All in all, his presentation was one of the best I've seen. Mark Brown connected with the kids and really helped them understand the effects of bullying in a deeper way. Not only was he smart but he was also very funny. He added in a few jokes and funny voices which definitely got the kids’ attention and pulled them into what he was saying. I am very happy Mark Brown got to come to my school and open my eyes on the effects of bullying.
