If you don’t know who Mark Brown is, he is an excellent speaker and travels around the world to speak to schools and is from Jamaica. Some of the topics that Mr. Brown talked to us about was bullying. Mr. Brown was bullied when he was younger and by explaining what happened to him, he really changed what the word “bullying” means for me. He explained to us that bullying can be in all different ways. Physical, verbal, cyber, and just by sending people looks can affect somebody’s day. Mr. Brown made a reference to the highly known movie, “The Beauty and the Beast”, by talking about how the beast was hated by one guy. This guy (I’m not sure what his name is) got the whole town on his side and they decided that they wanted to kill the beast, just because he looks dangerous. The only one who really knew the beast was Belle. She saw the real side of the beast and realized that, he wasn’t as bad as everybody thought he was. Mr. Brown also made a point to include everyone. He also taught us to never joke about a topic that might be sensitive to a person like weight, looks, height, and their life outside of school. In conclusion, we are supposed to treat everyone fairly and words can affect people.
