Unplugged coding uses the principles of being able to give or follow a given set of instructions (orally or written) to reproduce something. An example is following instructions on how to make a sandwich, following a recipe to make cookies, or following a set of instructions for a lego construction etc. The ideas are endless. This then moves on to being able to write a clear set of instructions (algorithm) for another user to be able to follow, then being able to critically think about (debug) what did not work and how to fix it.
Here are some suggested tasks that use instructions to complete.
Share photos or a small video with Miss Maguire.
Follow the instructions provided through the link...remember read carefully prior to starting then re-read during the making process.
When completed and tested modify the vehicle in some way. Write or record a set of instructions for someone else to follow.
Test your instructions...what happened?
This balloon rocket activity is super easy to make and uses things you have around the house. AND IT REALLY WORKS. Make sure you get the chance to launch your balloon rocket outside so that you can see how high it can fly!
