Class overview
Throughout the year we will be reading and responding to various novels as well as honing our writing skills throughout the year in personal narratives, informational writing and research writing.
6TH GRADE ELA
We are continuing to read our first novel, "Freak the Mighty". We will be writing personal narratives and this week we will focus on dialogue and how to punctuate it.
7TH GRADE ELA
We are continuing to read our first novel "My Brother Sam is Dead" this week. We will also be working on our realistic fiction stories-how they can be based on important events in "our" lives.
8TH GRADE ELA
We are continuing to read our first novel "The Outsiders". We will be working on our realistic fiction based on a theme/event we are interested in. This will be a combination of research and creative writing.
7TH GRADE SCIENCE
We will continue Weather in the Atmosphere this week.
BOOK REVIEW
ALL students will need to read 4 novels of his/her choice and complete a 3-4 paragraph review of the book. Each book must be 150+ pages and CANNOT be a graphic novel. The template for the review will be given to the students the first week of school.
ALL book reviews are due by MAY 1, 2026.
Now that our high school visits are done, please plan to go to some open houses to check them out! Dates are on their websites!!
