Classroom Expectations: We will adhere to the St. Joseph School Parent and Student Handbook. Be sure to read this thoroughly and feel free to ask questions. We will focus on grades, discipline and conduct, uniform policy, emergency drills and procedures, and playground rules as we review the handbook in class. In our classrooms, we have five core expectations:
Be respectful with words and actions
Follow directions the first time they are given
Be where you are asked to be
Take care of our classroom, school, and church
Always try your best
Parent Communication: You can email me with any questions or concerns at evowels@stjosephschoolbg.org.
Teacher Parent Communicator Folder: Students will bring their Teacher Parent Communication Folder to and from school daily.
Absent Work: Students are responsible for making up classwork that they miss. Classwork will not be prepared and sent home ahead of time. Students can make up for any missed work after they return.
Snacks and Water Bottles: Students may bring in a snack and water bottle daily. Water bottles must be kept in the pocket bottle holder in the classroom.
Lunch: If you would like to have lunch with your child, please call the school by 9:00 to allow the cafeteria time to prepare your meal. Our lunch is at 11:34.
Birthdays: Students may celebrate their birthday by bringing in a snack to share with the class.
Mass: We celebrate school Mass on Wednesdays at 9:45 (unless noted otherwise in the school newsletter). Students are expected to participate in Mass (genuflecting when entering and exiting pews, making the sign of the cross, etc.). Disrespectful behavior during Mass will not be tolerated.
Spelling Lists: We will take spelling pre tests on Monday and spelling tests on Friday for each week. Spelling lists will be visible on my website under weekly information.
Study Guides: Study Guides will be sent home for science and social studies ONLY. Study guides are sent home to benefit your child and should not be discarded. Students can bring study guides back on the day of the test to receive extra credit.
Science and Social Studies: We will not do social studies and science at the same time. Instead, the curriculums have been split into logical blocks and we wil switch back and forth between the two subjects. The split is available to see under the curriculum section.
