Producer: An organism that is able to use sunlight to synthesise sugar molecules from carbon dioxide and water, and use the energy stored for biological processes.
Consumer: An organism that gets its energy and nutrients by consuming other living organisms.
Trophic level: Organisms sharing the same function in a food chain and the same dietary relationship to the original sources of energy.
Herbivore: A consumer whose diet consists solely of living plants.
Carnivore: A consumer whose diet consists solely of living animals.
