Week of 1/12
MIDTERM REVIEW PACKETS: These were sent home before Christmas break. A copy is also posted in Google Classroom. ELA midterms for 8th grade will take place on Thursday 1/15.
This week's focus:
This week we will complete Unit 7 in our vocabulary books.
Students continue to work on our novel.
We will spend some time reviewing for our final.
8th grade ELA midterms are the 15th
Nonfiction Friday: All ELA teachers have introduced Nonfiction Friday. Each Friday, students will engage with a new nonfiction text to strengthen their ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret informational literature.
ELA late work policy:
Beginning this week, all English Language Arts teachers will implement a standardized late work policy designed to promote responsibility and time management skills essential for academic success.
Homework and Practice Assignments
Students who fail to submit homework or practice assignments will receive a zero with no opportunity for makeup credit. This policy encourages consistent daily engagement with course material.
Late submissions will be accepted within one calendar week of the original due date for a maximum of 50% credit. Students receive an "Unprepared for Class" slip documenting the final submission deadline. Work submitted after this date will receive a grade of zero. Students must notify teachers via email when submitting late work—Google Classroom messages do not fulfill this requirement.
Missed quizzes and tests due to absence must be completed upon return or within one week for extended absences. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule makeup assessments.
