Asynchronous Day Policy

On Friday, 11/14 we will have our first Asynchronous Day of the school year, which means that there are no students on campus. Below are the expectations for everyone to have a successful day. 

• Every child will have work to complete independently at home.  

• Half day of INDEPENDENT work to be completed at home

• All work graded for T2-CONTENT (except Special Areas due to different categories)

• No work = Zero

• Work will be sent home the day before OR posted via Google Classroom by 5pm the day before.

• ALL WORK DUE BY 5pm on Friday 11/14.

• Devices can be borrowed if needed, please let your child's homeroom teacher know in advance.

• All subjects for Friday's schedule will have work including Special Areas.

Calendar Updates:

~11/11-Veterans Day-Wear Red, White and Blue-Students can donate $1 or more to wear Red, White and Blue and all proceeds will go to the Honor Flight Fund.  

Homework Connection

The next session of dates for Homework Connection are available! Homework Connection is offered for both Elementary students (Gr 1-4) and Middle School students (Gr 5-8). Students may work on homework with the help of teachers on duty, if needed. A snack is provided.

Upcoming tests and 

All Religion tests are OPEN BOOK and we do the Chapter Review Test at the end of the Chapter together and they can use that as a resource during the test also.

Grammar test- Thursday, 11/20 Study review pages 40-41 in grammar workbook 

Unit 6 Vocabulary test is on 11/25

Science- End of Lab Learner Electricity test is on Thursday, 11/21- Study Guide sent home 11/17/25

HASA’s Hot Lunch Program will begin on Monday, October 6th. This year we will be offering the following:

• Mondays- Dominick’s burgers/cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and grilled cheese

• Tuesdays- Dominick’s pizza

• Wednesdays- Subway

• Thursday- Chick-fil-a

Club Corner

STEAM/Robotics

Get ready for STEAM/Robotics Club! Explore, create, collaborate, and problem-solve through fun, engaging projects in science, technology, engineering, art, math, and robotics with Mr. Llufrio and Mrs. Donnelly.

• Grades 3–5: Keep an eye out for the registration link in the Wolfpack Weekly next week on October 15th for this exciting afterschool club. Open to Grades 3–5, this hands-on club will meet every other Wednesday from 3-4pm in the Multimedia Center. This club is limited to just 25 students.

Second Sunday School Mass

Each month this year on the Second Sunday we will celebrate a Second Sunday School Mass where we will recognize and celebrate our students. Each month is dedicated to two grade levels. This is a wonderful time to attend Mass as a family and to connect with other school families as well. 

• November 9th - Kindergarten and Grade 7

• December 14th - All grades are encouraged to attend

• January 11th - Grade 1 and 4

• February 8th - PreK and Grade 8

• March 8th - Kindergarten and Grade 7

• April 12th - PreK and Grade 8

• May 10th - Mother's Day - All grades are encouraged to attend

Grading Policy and PowerSchool:

Our new grading policy, as mandated by the AOB, is included in our Student & Parent Handbook beginning on page 9. All major content areas will now be graded using 4 weighted categories. The categories are weighted as follows:

• Content Knowledge 60%

• Assessment of Learning 20%

• Skill Application & Critical Thinking 15%

• HW and Practice 5%

Access to PowerSchool, which provides parents with online access for grades for their children in Grades 3-8, is now OPEN. For new students to SJS, as well as all 3rd graders, information regarding access has been sent home. Please allow time for grades to be entered and for you to get used to the new weighting system. Directions and an online training module can be found HERE. Parents can download the PowerSchool Mobile app. If requested, our District Code is PJQM (all caps).

All parents must complete Virtus Training in order to volunteer at our school for class parties, field trips, and other activities.   Your certification will need to be updated periodically, as well.   More information about this training can be found at the following website:
