*MAPS testing will be 29Apr-2May, with them being ELA, Reading, Math, and Science, respectively*

*Students were able to browse a new website this week, multiplication.com, in which they can practice facts and play math games.  This site also offers addition, subtraction, and division practice)*

*despite the weather being warm, the AC is on in the classroom.  Please send pullovers or sweaters with your students*

Homework: There will be no homework this week due to MAPS testing

Spelling/Vocabulary: Vocabulary words are: actual, brink, chill, conquer, fortunate, fury, intend, pattern, vibrant, wit

Math: Due to testing, we will only complete Zearn Mission 4, Lessons 12 and 13 this week, continuing to learning about area.  

LA:  We will focus on editing practice, looking for common mistakes in grammar.

Social Studies:  Will resume after this Science unit

Science:   We will start the very short investigation 2: Harmful Effects of UV Light, with a quiz on Wednesday regarding their knowledge of how to create a pie graph.  We will continue on with Investigation 3: Examining Skin Cancer.

Religion: We will work in our workbook on Chapter 12: We Pray For All People, with the assessment on Friday

Every Wednesday, students may wear their Joy Is Our Strength shirts with their PE outfits or khakis.  If anyone's child is missing jackets or pullovers, please let me know!  The school has a large collection of unclaimed outerwear.

If homework is late, points will be deducted.  Students have 5 days to return work before it won't be accepted for a grade.  Exceptions may be made for special circumstances, such as absences.  Per the SJA handbook, 3rd grade students should only be spending 30-45 minutes on homework per night.  If your student is struggling and can't finish the homework, please just let me know.  If you can't log in to Powerschool, please let me know.
