September 2 - September 5, 2025
Students will continue learning the routines and expectations of 1st grade. This is another busy week for them and can be a little overwhelming. We step into our routines gently but with clear expectations. I love to watch as the students rise to the challenge of being 1st grade ROCK STARS!
SuperKids instruction began on Wednesday, August 27th, with the first 2 lessons completed. This is a fun start to SuperKids as they review the skills they learned in Kindergarten and get to refresh their memory about the SuperKids characters. We will continue our work in the SuperKids Review Unit this week.
Math lessons begin this week, and the students will do a quick refresher about groups and how to represent the number that is on a group. Students will use 2 color chips, connecting cubes, and ten frames as we begin our learning in Chapter 1.
In Religion, students will complete Chapter 1 which focused on what we do as families and how all of our families may look different, but we are all cherished children of God. Students will complete a class review of the concepts learned.
Social Studies instruction begins this week with a grade and age appropriate lesson on the events of 9/11/2000. In first grade, we focus on the heros of that tragic day in America ... Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, and the Military.
Science will have the students exploring their 5 senses. We will complete a Science lab this week in our classroom.
We will practice our safety drills throughout the week.
