Thirty-Eighth Week of School
(June 2-5, 2025)
Hello Fourth & Fifth Grade Families!
Can you believe that we have reached our final days of the 2024-2025 school year? The students have worked hard this year learning a lot of new material to prepare them for the coming years ahead! I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their support at home throughout this school year. The students have grown so much in there education due to our teamwork with each other. This week students will be receiving their Summer Work that is to be completed and returned the first week of the school at the end of August 2025. They will also be bringing home their school supply list for the 2025-2026 school year. Please be sure to put these items in a safe place to refer to an complete to prepare for the coming school year.
A gentle reminder to keep up-to-date on all school activities, families should make sure to read the SJA Family Update sent out every Wednesday as well as checking my teacher website. There will be no homework assigned for my classes this week in celebration of the last week of school. Our last day of school is Thursday (6/5) where we will participate in our last school Liturgy for the year and have our Trimester 3 Awards Ceremony following Liturgy. This day is also an early dismissal day at 12:05 pm with no aftercare provided.
Here are topics we will be focusing on in class this week:
5th Grade Math- Students will spend this week focusing on reviewing how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals.
5th Grade Science- This week students will reflect on STEM projects and activities that they have completed throughout the year to complete a survey to help prepare for the 2025-2026 school year.
5th Grade Religion- This week students will work on Chapter 19 lessons- Living as Christians. In this chapter, students will learn that through the practice of the Theological Virtues and the Cardinal Virtues, we grow in holiness.
4th Grade Math- Students will continue with lessons in Chapter 8-Fractions. This week students will focus on working with fractions to solve problems as well as practicing making equivalent fractions.
4th Grade Science- Students will work on investigating light and light transfer. This week students will learn how light interacts with objects/color. I am hoping that the weather works for us this week to do some investigations outside to test how color affects light/heat absorption.
Notes:
Please send a reusable, refillable water bottle to school with your child.
Please send in a morning snack in your child's lunchbox daily.
Please make sure that your child has brought in a "travel bag" to carry their supplies to ELA/SS or Math/Science.
Please be certain you are adhering to the uniform policy. With Dress Uniforms, students should be wearing the tan buck shoes and white or navy blue socks that cover their ankles.
SJA Late Work Policy
Students are responsible for all assignments, projects, and homework according to the standards and due dates assigned by the teacher. Any late work turned in after the assigned date will result in a five percent (5%) grade reduction for each day not turned into the teacher. The grade will be five percent (5%) off of what the student earned. A student has a total of six (6) maximum class periods to turn in late assignments. After day six a student will receive an automatic 69%.
If a student is absent from school, they will have the number of days absent to make up the work. This means if a student is out for four (4) days they will have four (4) days to make up and turn in all work to their teacher.
