Thanksgiving Food Drive: We will begin our Thanksgiving Food Drive this week, please be on the lookout for a flyer. Once again we will be putting together full Thanksgiving baskets, including turkeys, for families and friends of our St. James Community. Please use this form to let us know if you or someone you know would benefit from a Thanksgiving food basket this year.
Dress Down Fundraisers!
We had our first successful dress down day on Friday in honor of those battling childhood cancer. $250 will be donated to the Danny Hammond Dance Marathon in the name of our students. Stay tuned for the theme of October's Dress Down Fundraiser Day. If you have not made the $10 donation yet you can still go online to our payment tab. **
**No individual cash payments will be permitted this year, only the $10 donation will be accepted for participation in the Fundraiser Dress Down Days. A N.U.T pass is $4 so this is a bargain AND the money raised goes to various charities and fun events for our students.
Handbook
All St. James Regional parents and students are required to read and agree to the policies set forth in the Parent/Student Handbook and its appendices. Please log into OptionC and sign the eForm ASAP.
Drop-Off and Dismissal Procedures:
Drop-off and pick up can be very chaotic, especially at a neighborhood school like St. James, where parking lot space is limited. Per Mrs. McManus’ prior email:
Our school day goes until 2:45 so opening the gate at 2:30 is reasonable. There are days that our students are using the yard for gym class or their teacher has taken them out for some extra play time. We are a neighborhood school and we are fortunate to have a parking lot as many area schools do not. For the safety of our students and out of courtesy for our neighbors, cars should NOT be double parked on Rodgers Street. If you arrive earlier than 2:30 you may need to park on a side street or drive around the block until the gate is opened. The parking lot is closed to cars from 8:00AM-2:30PM
Drop-Off - Some reminders about drop-off procedures:
Drop-off time is between 7:40 when doors open and 7:55 when they close as students are in the gym for morning prayer and announcements by that time.
Allow enough time for traffic or the train.
Parents should not be parking their car and walking their student(s) to the door. This causes traffic back up and congestion.
If a student needs assistance getting out of the car he/she should be dropped off at the PreK/Kindergarten door in the back lot
Be patient, respectful and kind - our children are watching
General Supervision of School Grounds
The school grounds generally are supervised during school hours, from arrival time until dismissal time, when school is in session. There also will be general supervision in connection with school-sponsored activities, such as extracurricular events. Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that they and their children are not on the premises during other times. The school has no responsibility for students or parent(s)/guardian(s) on the premises during unsupervised times.
