Classroom Expectations

Homework Policy

Students will start each trimester with 100%. For each incomplete/missing assignment, 5 points will be deducted. Students may earn 4 of these points back if the assignment is fully completed by the next math class.

Late Work Policy

Assignments will be marked "M" in OptionC when they are missing. 5 points will be deducted from assignments each day they are late. Late assignments will no longer be accepted two weeks (10 school days) after the due date, at which point they will be graded as an automatic 50%.

Absent Policy

All absent work will be given when students return to school. The length of the absence is the length of time given to make up missed assignments and/or assessments. Notes must be obtained from a classmate and copied outside of classtime.

Signed Tests

Quizzes may be kept for studying purposes, but all tests must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned within one week. Tests that are not received by the due date will be counted as late homework assignments (5 point deductions) until they are received. 

Test Corrections

Corrections may be completed on tests and quizzes, regardless of the grade received. Corrections will be due one week after the graded assessment is given to students. Late corrections will not be accepted. Students should use the following steps when completing test corrections:

• Include your name, the date, and the title of the assessment on a piece of graph paper or loose leaf.

• All questions that did not receive full credit must be completed in their entirety. The question directions must be rewritten and all work must be shown. Write the lesson the question came from next to each question.

• Staple your corrections to the back of the original assessment.

• Must include a parent signature.

Corrections that do not meet the above criteria will not be accepted. The score received on the original assessment will be averaged with the score received on the corrections.

Extra Help

If you are struggling, PLEASE tell me!! I am here to help you. Extra help can be offered during lunch recess, excluding days I have lunch duty. Please let me know ahead of time if you plan to stop by for extra help.

Tests and Quizzes

Quizzes will be given at the midpoint of each chapter, and tests will be given at the conclusion of each chapter. Each question will be worth a total of 2 points. Full credit may be earned if the final answer is correct. Partial credit may be earned if part of the problem is correct. If some of the work is correct, only 1 point will be deducted. If a small, minor mistake is made or if the mistake is unrelated to the content being tested, only half a point will be deducted. All credit will be lost if all of the work is incorrect or if an incorrect final answer is given with no work to support it.
