Wrongful Trim

by Isabelle Shapiro

“Unti-unti, gradual.” The words stated by speaker Earvin Sakilayan, when asked about how the implementation of the no read, no move policy in Kawit, Cavite took place, on November 10.

Though it isn’t as effective as it may seem, with students raising concerns that even with this being done it’ll not solve the main issue. As even Mr. Sakilayan mentioned that one of the main causes this problem stems from is the lack of reading in the curriculum.

Pointing that governmental figures should focus more on the rehabilitation of this cause, as it directly affects the expected outcome they are hoping for.

As the policy itself isn’t as bad of an idea as that of it lacking effectiveness because of the environmental situation it has been placed in.

Cut the root instead of the stem, so that we can move forward and have these proposals to be more effective in helping the youth.

Genuine Reaction: Today, we start to Unite!

by Isabelle Shapiro

Collecting approximately 1.3 million pesos, Brigada Lakad Sayaw Para Sa Pagkakaisa poses as a gateway for young journalists to attain their desired goals.

And with the success of this fund-raising project, many are celebrating as it could serve as an opportunity to not only the youth but to the future of society, as a quote states “the youth are the future of society”.

That said, many are hoping that this project further develops as the benefits it can give off are huge.

The project contains potential, although as speaker Earbin Sakilayan stated “it takes a village to raise a child”.

Marking that the government and its citizens alike should work and hand in hand, to better protect and develop society and its future.

Point of View: Should we trust again?

by Isabelle Shapiro

Fundraising for the sake of the youth, yet we have not been able to even fully resolve the confidential funds issue. As even with the request dropped it was merely let go and not fully situated or explained.

How are we to trust those in power to hold onto our money when they cannot even provide proof and proper explanation for other important matters.

To provide a large sum of money for a wondrous outcome, only for it to have the littlest impact.

Falling into the rabbit hole of something’s going to happen once we give again and again, is not the way to go.

When we can just go ahead and directly support the people that we say and see as in dire need of help.
