Dear Parents,
It continues to be a busy and productive time at St James, and time is certainly flying as we head towards the end of term next Friday.
Supporting Good Causes
We had a fantastic response to Red Nose Day this year. I am thrilled to announce that, through your generosity, we raised over £400 for Comic Relief! A huge thank you to Mrs. Sykes and our School Council for putting together such an engaging assembly, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole school.
In the same spirit of service, a group of our pupils recently supported the local community by participating in the Great British Spring Clean. They worked incredibly hard alongside community members to clear and tidy our local spaces. Well done to everyone involved for taking such pride in our environment.
Partnering with Parents
It was a pleasure to welcome so many of you to our Parent/Carer Consultations this week. I hope you found the discussions regarding your child’s progress both helpful and informative. It was also lovely to see so many families during our Open Afternoon; the children were so proud to share their hard work and classroom achievements with you. Please speak to the school office if you were unable to attend these events and we will arrange for the class teacher to make contact with you.
Community Consultations: Your Voice Matters
We are currently assisting Surrey County Council’s Safer Travel Team with two important initiatives regarding the safety and wellbeing of our pupils:
1. Annual Primary School Travel Survey. The goal of this research is to understand how travel patterns are changing and to encourage safer, more active ways of getting to school. Please complete the survey for each child you have at St James by 12th April 2026. Complete the Travel Survey Here As a thank you, the team will donate £25 for every 100 surveys completed to either Stripey Stork or Charlie’s Promise.
2. 20mph Speed Limit Consultation. Ensuring the safety of our pupils on their journey to school is a top priority. I strongly encourage you to share your views on the proposed 20mph Speed Limit Zone for North Weybridge and St James. Please submit your response by 27th March 2026 North Weybridge and St James C of E School Proposed 20 mph Speed Limit Zone
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Mrs Murphy
A huge thank you to all who donated to this years
Red Nose Day
The total raised was:
£457.32
Please can we politely ask that everyone makes a special effort NOT to drop any litter outside the school.
We have had a few neighbourhood complaints.
Please help us keep the area outside the school gates clear and safe for everyone.
Please find below the current lunch menu from our school caterers, Twelve15. This is a three week rolling menu. All children choose from one of the three meal options at the start of each school day. There is also a fully stocked salad bar and fresh bread served daily.
Please remember to book school meals in advance using ARBOR.
Weekly reminder - for parents/carers, that if they take their children out of school without authority for 5 or more days (which do not have to be consecutive), then you will be liable for a penalty notice fine
1. If you have not incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/children in a rolling 3 year period since 19 August 2024, then the penalty notice will be charged at the rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. This will be reduced to £80.00 if paid within 21 days of receipt of the notice. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.
2. If you have incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/children since 19 August 2024, the rolling 3 year period will be activated from the date of the first penalty notice and the second penalty notice will be charged at the flat rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. There will be no reduction for payment within 21 days. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.
3. If you have incurred 2 penalty notices relating to this child/children in the rolling 3 year period since the first penalty notice was issued, then you will NOT receive a third penalty notice – Surrey County Council will have no option but to consider a prosecution, per parent/carer per child, in the Magistrates Court under s 444 Education Act 1996.
Surrey County Council is not responsible for authorising pupil absence and therefore cannot withdraw any Penalty Notice requests without the written permission of the Headteacher.
