A Message from Mrs Murphy

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you have all been managing to keep cool in this very hot week. The children have all been very resilient over the last few days and have coped really well considering. As we have said in our communications on Parentmail, please do send your child with a water bottle and sun cream on hot days.

Looking ahead to next week, it does appear that the temperatures will be cooling slightly so we will return to our normal uniform requirements from Monday. We will continue to monitor the forecast and let parents know if anything changes.

Fond Farewell:

Today we say thank you and goodbye to Mrs Leyland, who has supported Robin class over the last two terms. We are incredibly grateful for her hard work and commitment to St James. She will be missed by all children and staff.

Save the Date

There are lots of events being arranged for the summer term, so please do keep and eye on the calendar at the end of the newsletter. The Governors of St James will be holding their annual Governor Forum on Monday 10th July at 2.30pm. A formal invite will follow.

I hope you have a lovely weekend

Kind regards,

Mrs Murphy

Summer Reading Challenge

Surrey Library Service have launched their Summer Reading Challenge. It would be great if lots of St James children can take part this year as this will help them keep up their reading skills over the long summer break. It is also a great way to encourage the love of reading with our children.

More details can be found here  : Summer Reading Challenge - Surrey County Council (surreycc.gov.uk)

Year 6 Guildford Cathedral  Leavers Service

Mrs Murphy had the pleasure of accompanying Year 6 to Guildford Cathedral this week.

The children participated in a variety of activities where they were given the opportunity to reflect on their Primary School journey. This included considering what their best "Wow" moment was.

They also took time to reflect on who they would like to thank for their help. The children were amazing and represented the school fantastically well.

Well done Year 6!

They are now preparing for next week's Brenscombe residential, which is going to be very exciting!

Year 5 Art Showcase
