Dear Parents and Carers,
What a busy couple of weeks! So many amazing things going on in school!
Celebration of Learning Assemblies - Congratulations Reception, Year 1, Year 3
It has been fantastic to see all the celebration of learning assemblies across the last fortnight.
We started with Year 3, last Wednesday, who took us through the year, month by month, performing songs and displaying their work! There was even some rapping! Fabulous work Year 3!
Reception, our youngest pupils, also took to the stage this Wednesday to sing and perform. We were so impressed how they all knew when to speak and spoke so clearly! Fantastic work Reception!
Year 1 also wowed us with their assembly this week. Complete with aliens and Geography singing, the children had a great time performing.
We are looking forward to Year 2 assembly next week
Trombone Assembly - Year 3 and 4
Year 3 and 4 took to the stage on Tuesday to demonstrate their fabulous Trombone skills. Performing a range of pieces to a packed hall of parents and carers, we were stunned at the progress they have all made. We have included a few sound files for you to enjoy at home. Congratulations everyone and many thanks to Mr Clarke who has taught Year 4 for the last year and Year 3 for a term.
Year 6 Production!
It has been show week here at St James as our Year 6 children presented "Shakespeare Rocks". The singing and dancing was fabulous as all children took part in this spectacular performance. Huge congratulations to all children! It was so amazing to see them having so much fun.
Thank you also to the whole Year 6 staff team who have worked tirelessly to support the children to put on this production over the last few weeks.
Move up day
Further to the email sent on Wednesday about the new classes, the children will meet their new class teachers on Monday and will spend the whole day with them. Please note that drop off and collection will be from their current classes as normal on Monday.
Parent Survey - Last chance
Please can I encourage all Parents of St James to complete the Parent Survey . Thank you to the 75 people who have completed it so far.
The survey is accessible from here https://forms.gle/HyF91XCQwZJFenN1A and will be open until the 17th of July. Even if you do not have anything particular to say, please do complete it so that we have a fully representative view from our 335 families at St James. This will help us to continue our school improvement journey and support all the children across the school.
Reports
All children received their end of year report today. Please take the time to celebrate the successes of the year with the children. They have all worked so hard and we are proud of them all.
Fond Farewell
This week we say goodbye to Mr Jacoby who has been teaching in Snowy Owls class this year, alongside Mrs Michaelides. He has successfully been awarded a QTS and has been a fantastic edition to the St James team this year. We wish him good luck in his new job. We will miss him at St James.
Summer Fair
Tomorrow is our Summer Fair which is set to be an amazing event, despite the forecast wind. Thank you for all the donations for the stalls that have been given. Please do pop along to support the school.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Mrs Murphy.
Year 4 had a fantastic time at Ufton Court last week where they extended their learning of the Tudors. They completed a treasure hunt in a Tudor House, went on a 'voyage' of discovery as Francis Drake and completed a Tudor raid learning about the religious divides during the Tudor times. The children even had a Tudor Banquet.
Thank you to Mrs Lawrence, Mrs Schofield, Mrs Walker, Miss Punter, Miss Fraser and Mrs Wong for giving up their time to provide Year 4 with this amazing opportunity.
Year 5 have been reading Origami Yoda in their English curriculum. Isla in Year 5 was so inspired, she went home and made a giant version. Well done Isla, it is absolutely amazing!
On Tuesday we were treated to a very special musical concert from Year 3 and Year 4. The concert started with our Year 3 children performing two songs which they have been learning this term. Year 4 then treated us to a selection of songs which they have learned over the course of the year. Year 3 will continue with their trombone lessons in the Autumn term and we cannot wait to hear how their playing develops. Well done Year 3 and Year 4 - you were amazing. Please click on the links below to listen to some sound clips from their performance.
In DT, Year 3 have constructed castles. Using their understanding of 3D shapes and nets, the children worked incredibly hard to create these masterpieces. Well done Year 3!
