Parent Newsletter -Week beginning Monday 17th November 2025
On Tuesday November 4th, staff from the National Robotarium (based at Heriot-Watt University) came to the school to talk to S2 pupils about how Robotics and AI are being used in everyday life and how Computing Science plays a key role in this. The day started with a presentation showing current research and developments, with a guest appearance from their Boston Dynamics Spot the Dog robot. S2 pupils then came down throughout the day to work in groups to code a robot to collect and deliver blocks.
The Celebrating Success Committee
Our junior Eco Gardeners have been hard at work cultivating a vibrant collection of fresh herbs for our Home Economics Department. Through their efforts, our Eco Club continues to show the true spirit of sustainability, pride in caring for our environment and the community that thrives here at St. Modan’s.
Our students took part in an exciting COP30 climate conference simulation, where they became delegates representing countries from across the globe — from highly developed nations to developing ones. Throughout the event, they engaged in intense negotiations with climate activists and fossil fuel lobbyists, navigating complex discussions and competing interests. Working alongside pupils from other schools across Stirling Council and beyond, their collaboration and diplomacy paid off: together, they managed to agree on emission reductions that would limit global warming to 1.9°C. We were immensely proud of the confidence, negotiation, and debating skills our girls demonstrated throughout the day — they truly held their own on the global stage!
We are beginning our planning for the Burns Supper, taking place on Friday 30th January. We will be looking for some pupils to recite Scottish poetry, do a Highland dance, sing a Scottish song...anything goes! Interested pupils should see Mrs Pennock or Mrs Daly to discuss.
Our S6 pupils worked very hard to plan, organise and deliver a spooktastic week for our pupils:
S1/6 Halloween Disco and Scare Corridor
S5/6 Film night
S3 Film afternoon
A special shout out to Mrs Warkentin's Personal Development class who worked very hard to prepare popcorn and spooky treats to sell at our tuckshops.
All young people involved thouroughly enjoyed the events and we raised over £400 for our school charity appeal.
The S6 Council are already planning some Festive Fun to help raise more money for our charity appeal.
The PTP are organising our annual 12 days of Christmas raffle. They are hoping to be able to raffle 12 Christmas Hampers and are looking for donations - sweets/chocolate, drinks, laundry, toiletries, vouchers, toys.
Items can be dropped into the school office or donations can be dropped off at the S5/6 Progress evening on 20/11 and/ or S1 Progress evening on 27/11.
The Parents ASN Peer Support Group will now run on the first Friday of every Month.

St Modan's High school was proudly represented by three of our senior pupils on Remembrance Sunday this year in Denny Old Cemetery. Many thanks to Cllr Garner for organising this event.
Our wonderful St. Modan's Choir delivered a truly beautiful and memorable performance at the recent Catholic Headteachers' Conference. The choir's singing was deeply appreciated, with many of the attending Headteachers commenting that it was the absolute highlight of the conference. We feel incredibly lucky to have such a talented and dedicated choir. Thank you to Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Daly for helping to organise the Mass and of course to Mr. Walsh for his support, and commitment to nurturing such a beautiful musical gift within our school community.
